In terms of motivation, how do you motivate yourself to exercise?
My two biggest motivators are my clients and myself. I look forward to how I feel after I workout and I make it a priority to practice what I preach and workout as often and as hard as I harass my clients to

What is your favorite snack or drink that boosts your energy before a workout?
My favorite is probably a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, but at least 2 hours pre-workout. I love soy peanut butter and low sugar jelly on whole wheat bread. If I’m short on time, I’ll grab a Cliff Mojo bar….delicious!

What is your favorite cardio exercise?
I love to run, swim, kick-box, and bike, but running is probably my favorite. I think it really chills me out, and allows me some alone time with my thoughts and music. It’s funny, it helps me relax and also pumps me up too.

What is your favorite strength training exercise?
I focus on functional strength and flexibility in a heart pounding workout, so you can have the athletic body you require to perform the activities of your daily life. I want my clients to feel better and looking better will happen naturally. Your health and wellness should always be a priority, so make time. Busy is not an excuse, everyone is busy.

Personal Fit Tip:
Have fun – go hard

I think it’s important to say I would rather people come to the gym than stay home worried that they might make a mistake, or look foolish. The two biggest mistakes I see are a lack of intensity and variety in peoples’ workouts. Step it up and change what you’re doing and you’ll break through plateaus.

Favorite Fitness Book:
I have a few, but my two favorites are authored by two of my favorite trainers: Core Performance by Mark Verstegen and The New Rules of Lifting by Alwyn Cosgrove.
