How to find out what your body is SUPPOSED to feel like

Hey everyone!! Happy (early) spring! It’s amazing how the weather can really just brighten your day! I am definitely looking forward to sun and flowers … some of you may identify that as allergy season so, moving along. Awesome job in the challenge you guys! You all are really crushing it! Keep up the GREAT work! I am having a great time with the challenge, couldn’t have come at a better time for me. I just have GOT to remember my FitBit when I exercise. Lately I have been running outside because the weather has been so nice and I somehow manage to leave my FitBit in the car (ugh). But I suppose I am doing this for me and not necessarily the numbers but man! The times I actually decide to willingly do cardio my FitBit is MIA (grinds my gears).

Sunday run. Have the shin splints to prove it.

I have still been working with Brittany for that extra push to remain consistent. Guys, I have to tell you it is really going great. Seriously nothing bad to say about my sessions and the results I have seen. Working with a personal trainer is going to make you do the work in the gym, but it’s YOU that continues that work outside of the gym. Believe me, I am realizing that more than you think. Every session is different with Brittany. The techniques and exercises you do with a certified personal trainer is something that you can take with you on your off days to improve your weight or fitness level. If you’re not a fan of weight lifting, a trainer can walk you through some exercises that will help you isolate your troubled area with a lower weight and higher reps. For me, I never realized how important reps were. Here are some of the things Brittany and I did in our past session:

Ok, so with the rush to get summer and vacation ready, the Spring into Fitness challenge, and working out on your own or with a personal trainer you’re probably sore huh? Yes, I agree that soreness after a good gym session burns soooo good. But be aware of your body, don’t over do it. I did for awhile and trust me working out sore is NOT a good time and again, no one wants to take two weeks off to allow their body to recover properly either ( I myself am guilty of both). So let’s get real, can you honestly tell me that you properly stretch before and after a workout? (I sure don’t). I’m not going to launch into a speech about safety and the risk of injury because well … I am just as guilty as you guys. So instead I will offer you three words: Thai Yoga Bodywork.

Yep, ADAC has yet ANOTHER resource that both members and non members can benefit from. This service is offered by one of the ADAC personal trainers, Charles! A Thai Yoga Bodywork or Thai Yoga Massage is a combination of yoga and a standard massage, with a bit of a chiropractor feel coming together in a 90 minute session. A Thai Yoga massage rests on the foundation of love and kindness. If you’re not as flexible as you would like or have never practiced yoga before you can still benefit from the stretch. In a single session (which is what I did), Charles acts as your partner and focuses the positions and stretch on areas where you experience the most tension. Remember, that these certified personal trainers can provide knowledge that you can take with you? Get this, Charles offers not only a single 90 minute session… but a COUPLES 90 minute session as well! In a couple session with Charles he will work with you and your partner together at your own pace to practice positions to relieve tension in troubled areas at home whenever the need may arise (like after your workout for the challenge).

However, my single session experience was ……. Relaxing, rejuvenating, and refreshing to say the least. Charles has an immense amount of training in the art of performing a Thai Yoga Bodywork or Thai Yoga Massage. There was never a time where I felt uncomfortable or in pain and all I did was breathe and focus on my breath and let Charles do the rest. This service is usually offered in the multi purpose room when there is no group fitness class. I was able to go in middle of my work day and went back to work feeling absolutely amazing. If none of the off peak times work for you and your schedule, there are other accommodations that can be made like having a session in the park for example. I would highly recommend any and everyone to check it out and see for yourself. I mean, have I ever steered you wrong? Nope. Call the club and schedule an appointment today! Until next time everyone, BE-YOU-tiful and always dance like no one is watching.

Signed,

Oh wow, that’s what my back is SUPPOSED to feel like, nice!
