Concept 2 Rower the Best Cardio Workout?

I am often asked by Arena District Athletic Club members which is a better workout, treadmill or elliptical?  My response – neither!  It is the Concept 2 Rower!

If you want a heart-hammering workout, look no further than the indoor rower. It requires a coordinated effort from your upper body and lower body, and extreme muscular and aerobic endurance to blast out stroke after stroke. Plus, it’s low impact, so you get the same cardiovascular benefits as running, but without the pounding on your joints.

Some of my favorite Concept2 Rower workouts are:

500 meters for time – this will take less than 2 minutes but will suck the life out of you!  Record time acording to Concept2’s website is 1:13.7.   Give it a try and post your time on our facebook page.

Row 250 meters + 25 Push-ups – Complete as many rounds as possible in 15 minutes.  7+rounds would be challenging!
